In
1972 Zlatina Deliradeva became the Detska Kitka’s artistic director and chief
conductor. Her talent was instantly obvious, evidenced by a steadily increasing
list of artistic achievements on national and international stage. Under her
conductorship the Detska Kitka Choir put up prize-winning performances in a
number of prestigious international choir competitions: Celje, Yugoslavia (1981),
Debrecen, Hungary (1984), Arnhem, the Netherlands (1987), Varna, Bulgaria (1989),
Cantonigros, Spain (1995), Halle, Germany (1998), and Maasmechelen, Belgium
(1999). The choir’s artistic portfolio includes over thirty-five concert tours
in Austria, Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Czech Republic, France, Germany,
Greece, Italy, the Netherlands, Poland, Slovenia, Spain, Turkey, and Hungary.
For the last thirty years the choir has delivered over 600 performances on
Bulgarian and international stage and has appeared at thirteen international
choir festivals. An ambassador of Bulgarian culture, the Detska Kitka Choir
is a three-time participant in the cultural programmes of the Council of Europe’s
Parliamentary Assembly and the European Parliament in Strasbourg (1994, 1996,
and 1997). A recent highlight in the choir’s artistic biography was its participation
in the Europalia Festival in Brussels in 2002 where it put up a performance
at Brussels’ Saint Michel cathedral. The Detska Kitka Choir has recorded several
albums, containing a total of seventy-eight choral pieces. The choir has made
numerous recordings for various radio and TV channels, most notably with the
French National Radio, Canal 5, the Hungarian National Radio, the Bavarian
National Radio, the Bulgarian National Radio, Radio Ljubljana, the Bulgarian

at 19.45 on New Years’ Eve. The program includes Christmas carols from around
the world performed with jazz singers Petar Salchev and Miroslava Katsarova,
pop singer Vessela Boneva, and Manol Peykov.
